Steven's Page
This web site is dedicated to the memory of Steven Matthew Falkner, who died on January 7, 1998. He was three years old. We have placed this page here for several very important reasons. We want others to know how his death came about to help prevent it from happening to others like him, and we want to offer words of encouragement to others who might have lost a child at such a young age. This is very important. Please pass this message along to ANYONE you know who has young children. Steven was playing in the family car and rolled the power window down to yell at some other children who were playing. He was killed when he got his knee on the power window buttons and the window rolled up on his neck. We wanted you to know how dangerous this is. I would further mention years later that it is very evident that General Motors could care less about the rocker switch design used in their vehicles and could care less about the fact that their automobiles are killing children. It must just be part of the cost of doing business.
We invite you to write to us regarding this and to let others know what we have gone through regarding our son's death. It was tragic, but we have a strong faith in God and believe good can come of this. You can reach us at Kevin or Bethany regarding this if you like.
We have just added a link to http://www.kidsandcars.org here as this is an organization run by a friend of ours who is attempting to force the auto companies to recognize this danger. There have been at least 36 children killed in power windows since the death of Steven.
